Jesse Williams

Candidate for the

Yorta Yorta

I am a Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri man, living and working in Naarm on Wurundjeri Country. I have a deep connection to Country and mob right across the state.

I’m choosing to stand as a candidate so I can be a part of the discussions while also bringing my knowledge and expertise around Community aspirations to the conversations about treaty and Government relations.

I work in state Government as a senior project officer working directly with mob across the state that do not have formal recognition. The relationships I hold and the work I am conducting provides myself with immense wisdom and knowledge around Community’s aspiration for country.

While also being Deputy Chair for the board of directors at First Nations Legal and Research Services and want to build better working relationships between community and formal recognition processes.

I also want to learn and grow more of my own understandings around the treaty space and the Assembly so I can then advocate for a better relationship between Community and Government.

I believe treaty can provide opportunities where opportunity hasn’t existed in the past. Providing more authority and power to Communities that hasn’t been present in the past.

Stay Deadly and Best Regards
