Lewis Brown

Candidate for the

Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Gunditjmara

My name is Lewis Brown, I am a proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung & Gunditjmara man and a proud father of 2 boys. I am incredibly excited to nominate myself as a candidate for the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria.

I come from a background of predominantly social work roles, working in Aboriginal organisations including the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS), Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA), and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association Ltd (VACSAL). I now work as a Reconciliation Advisor at RMIT University and a Cultural Tour Guide & Consultant with my Traditional Owner group, the Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal Clans Corporation.

I have been particularly passionate about the treaty movement for Victoria, truly believing in the long overdue recognition for the valuable contributions made by the community. Through my advocacy work, I have been able to bring together like-minded individuals and rally support and momentum. It is no secret that treaty negotiations can be complex, but my passion and dedication will uplift those I work alongside, and show just how deeply I believe in this cause. I am proud of all that has been achieved so far and would be overjoyed to be a part of this historic moment.
