I’m Richard J Frankland, a Gunditjmara Man. For those who aren’t aware of my past work history and why I feel I am qualified to represent you;

I have worked for the past thirty years on the front line of Aboriginal – First Nations Affairs. These jobs included but not exclusive to;

• Field Officer to the Royal Commission Into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody
• Founder and CEO of Mirimbiak nations Aboriginal Corp, this org was instrumental in lodging the majority of Native Title Claims in Vic
• Film maker, Theatre Practitioner, Musician, Composer, Author
• Counsellor
• Community Facilitator specialising in Lateral Violence Awareness, dispute resolution, cultural safety and strategic development and capacity building
• Alongside Karen Milward, I facilitated the statewide meeting that led to the creation of the Treaty process.
• I led the community consultations across the state to approximately 30 community meetings discussing the what was then proposal of Treaty
• I co-wrote and directed the first Deadly Questions advertisements

There are several key components that I believe could be essential, if not then at least discussed and considered for the next stage;

• First Nations Representation in State Parliament – Seats in parliament
• A dispute resolution process in our cultural shape
• Adequately resourced and First Nations led cultural solutions to the issues we face
