Stephen Walsh

I am standing to be elected as a representative of the Treaty future process and provide a path to negotiate for First Peoples to control matters which impact their lives, the rights of culture, and histories, with truth telling and voice.

I am Gunai/Taungurung and live on Wadda Wurrung Country and a member of the Wathaurong Local community. I’ve been living on country for 20 years and accepted by the local community.

I have been involved with Aboriginal state and local organisations for over 40 years. I have been a representative on Education, Legal and social services. For the last 21 years I have been employed with Government on Land management and Environmental issues, supporting Aboriginal community needs and voice with use of traditional cultural connections.

Treaty for Victorian First Peoples is acknowledging that prior to the formation of the State of Victoria, Aboriginal were here first, and practicing their own law, lore, and cultural authority. My vision now is to represent First Nations on the Treaty, Truth telling and Voice to Government. With the support of the communities within the South West Region’s Elections I would be honoured to connect with the many of the community and traditional owners.
